About Stuart

In college, I enjoyed working as a tutor helping a person study for the ASVAB. After college, I've worked with Gateway Community College & Total Education Solutions tutoring those in need. And years later, I was thanked by the ASVAB tutee for helping him get into the Air Force. I find tutoring to be rewarding and it satisfies my desire to help people.

My teaching approach is fun, relaxed, and relates to real world scenarios. To study any curriculum in Technology, Biological Sciences, Physics, and Computer Science, Science and Math are the core prerequisites for the them. I possess a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Fayetteville State University and an Effective Teacher Training Cert. from Fayetteville Technical Community College.

I participated in the following college internships and research symposiums:

Research Internship:
NIH’s Minority Biomedical Research Support [MBRS]
Fayetteville State University

Partnership for Minority Advancement for Biomolecular Sciences [PMABS]
UNC @ Chapel Hill

Science Enrichment Preparation Program [SEP]
UNC @ Chapel Hill

Research:
Mutational Analysis of Mn2+ Induced Errors During in vitro DNA Synthesis.

Research Symposiums:
National Conference Undergraduate Research Union College, Schenectady NY 1995
National General Medical Science Symposium Washington, DC 1992

Please review the subjects section. My professional experience is in Microbiology, molecular biology, Laboratory Information Management Systems from the pharmaceutical / medical device industry. Where I'ved worked as an Industrial Microbiologist.

I enjoy sharing information with the masses. To see a person who is need of help with a subject to turn around and master the subject through hard work is a true delight to me. My purpose is to share my experience, abilities, and knowledge where it may be utilized to serve humanity.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Basketball

In high school, I played basketball for 2 years and attended Basketball camps at:

Wake Forrest University (NC)
Elon College (NC)

Where the focus was on developing the fundamentals of the game: Offense, Defense, learn plays, drills to speed endurance, weight lifting, and team development.

In college, I took a basketball course which re-enforced the fundamental skills of the game:

Offense, Defense, learn plays, drills to speed endurance, Rules, and preseason / postseason conditioning.

Genetics

During college, I performed research in a molecular genetics research lab through the NIH Minority Biomedical Research Support Program [MBRS]. The project was: Mutational Analysis of Mn2+ Induced Errors During in vitro DNA Synthesis. A poster was created to present our findings at undergraduate research symposiums, where our data was conveyed the work to both laymen individuals & science professionals.

Along with the research, a Genetics course and lab were part of my college curriculum.

Within the Biotechnology industry, I have worked in automated DNA Sequencing facilities where it was our daily responsibility to analyze genetic data to implement the information into drug development.

Macintosh

My experience comes from being trained by Apple computers to be a technical support representative, where I became quite knowledgeable of MAC OS 10.5 to assist with technical support calls.

Microsoft Word

I acquired my MS Office experience from a course I took in college. And for more then 10 years now, these skills have been utilized in both my professional career and personal life. MS Office consists of the following applications:

MS Word
Excel
PowerPoint
Access

Physical Science

I am qualified to to tutor physical science. I would gladly like to assist accordingly.

Voice (Music)

I possess 12 years of experience as a trombonist / musician and understand musical scaling, playing, reading, and training in music.

Since 1998, I have drawn from my science background [Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry, & Central Dogma [Tissue regeneration], & etc.], as a scientist to get a through understanding on how to heal, maintain, and improve throat health properly via vocal scales, drinks, and physical exercises to develop the diaphragm. Thus assuring the best possible outcome during vocal performances.

For more than four years, I have studied multiple vocal systems to continue develop and improve my vocal ability. I have shared this knowledge with friends, family, & clients with their vocal development.
