I specialize in helping students with brainstorming, free writing, paragraph writing and sentence cohesion, thesis creation, essay structure, research papers, MLA formatting, utilizing online databases, avoiding bad research, and basically all that goes with writing. While I focus on the subject matter of English, I can assist with a paper in any of the humanities disciplines, and I can even help with preparing the script for a speech or debate. I am an avid writer of fictional stories, so I can provide assistance to students in Creative Writing as well.
My education includes; over six years of experience as an English tutor working directly with students of all ages. I have been an Instructional Aide in a couple of K-5 schools as well as a tutor for a charter high school.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English Studies from California State University where I graduated with honors. Shortly after that, I earned my CTC 30 Day California Emergency Credential which is current through 2017. Additionally; in preparation for a credential program I passed the English CSET in 2014. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I studied American History as my major while in junior college, and I have always enjoyed studying the origin of America. I have written several academic essays on American history as it relates to the literature, artifacts, and events that created the United States.
