In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I tutored Algebra 1 to several students for many years.
I have a master's in engineering and have completed all calculus courses. I have tutored algebra 2 to many other students for several years.
I have written several personal statements and helped others through the application process. I got into several UCs, including UC San Diego, into the master's program at UCSD, and received over half interview invites and several acceptances for my medical school applications, where I had to write about 4 essays for each school. The people I have helped with their personal statements got into undergraduate schools, as well as medical school, master programs, and phD programs.
I have experience teaching math of all levels and worked with young children as a swim instructor for many years. I enjoy tutoring in a fun and engaging way that helps motivate the student.
I tutor English and ESL regularly. I work with students of all levels from elementary school to PhDs who work in Industry. We focus on building vocabulary, grammar, reading, and speaking. One activity I often do with my students are mock interviews, which they find helpful in their job searches.
I am a bookkeeper at an IT start-up in the Bay Area. For my job, I use QuickBooks to keep track of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. I have many hours of experience entering checks in un-deposited funds, transferring funds into deposited funds, and inputting credit card charges. I also use QuickBooks to create invoices that are sent to our clients. I feel comfortable completing and teaching all of the above tasks.
I swam competitively for the Santa Clara Swim Club for 13 years. I swam throughout college and am coaching Girls and Boys Varsity Swim Team at a local high school. I am first aid and CPR certified and have my water safety training done. I focus on technique and am a patient tutor who truly cares about helping your child improve.
I took Vietnamese for speakers at UC San Diego. I also took Vietnamese classes every Saturday from elementary school-high school. I went to Vietnam several times and this past summer for a medical mission. I speak Vietnamese everyday at my current job as I work in a doctor's office for the Vietnamese community. I know how to speak, read, and write.
