I'm a Master of Arts graduate with a focus on German History, who loves reading and writing, and helping others. I have had three years' experience working with students at the university level, as a tutor and teaching assistant. Most students often complain that they find history boring and too far in the past to be worth learning about-but I will show you that history is very much alive, and will get you interested enough to start earning the grades you deserve! In tutoring sessions for historical subjects, we will focus on the connections and patterns that make history what it is, and students will begin to understand that history is really about people, just like them, and that will help make it a relatable subject. In addition, I can help you to further your understanding of literature by focusing on themes, similar to history, and breaking down what you're reading into accessible blocks of text that you can then analyze and piece together to form a fuller understanding of the work you're reading. I am also an excellent proofreader (I never had any typos in my schoolwork), and can help students develop the vocabulary and writing skills necessary to achieve the grades that will better reflect their hard work. As a teacher and tutor, my philosophy and approach is that the student should develop at their own pace, and in the way that works best for them. Some students are more visual learners, while others simply need more guidance and support in developing their existing skills. I am encouraging but firm, and make sure students complete their work according to a schedule that is agreed upon by both of us, and am very respectful of them as individuals.

Adriana is a great tutor helping our 5th grader with English composition, and critical reading and writing. She is very patient and friendly. Always on time from day one! She is making the lessons exciting for him and her encouragement is making him do the assigned work on his own. This includes the book reports and essays. Thanks Adriana!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught a university level World History course for two years, as a teaching assistant. I led discussions on reading material that was selected from a textbook, and selections of primary source readings, including literature and official documents.
