I enjoy working with acting students of all ages and backgrounds to reach their goals. Building confidence and experience, vocal and movement skills, audition monologues and tips, scenework and dialects/accents are part of my background in working with actors and students for years.
I work with students who are serious about theatre as a career, as well as young people and adults of all ages who want to improve their skills, gain confidence, and just enjoy the acting experience. My background is from university training and many years of acting in stage and media, directing, running theatre companies, and teaching both classes and one-on-one instruction for native speakers and those from other countries.
My biggest thrill is seeing a student grow and blossom into their potential - let me know how I can be of help, while making it fun! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I attended San Jose State and Michigan State universities. I was a performer and manager of the Team of Four Creative Dramatics group at Michigan State, which toured week-long workshops in elementary schools in 3 counties and worked every week during the school year. I have taught adult acting classes through Adult Education in San Jose and Morgan Hill, as well as private classes for groups and individuals. I've also given performance workshops culminating in live performances, as well as directing children from age 8 through adults in many community productions. I co-founded three theatre companies, one of which is still going strong in San Jose (City Lights Theatre Company.) I currently act in stage and media production, direct stage productions, and teach acting, most recently dialect training and accents for actors from other countries.
I'm happy to furnish my resume and references.
