B.S. University of California, Davis (Food Science)
I graduated from UC Davis in 2015 with a cum laude degree in Food Science. Ever since I was young, I have always excelled at math and chemistry, hence I picked Food Science as my major, as the subject uses a lot of Math and Chemistry. When I was in elementary school, I went to school in Indonesia and participated in many mathematics competitions until I was in high school. In high school, I was the appointed class tutor, so my classmates would always go to me for tutoring sessions after class. In college, I also worked as a part time tutor in the tutoring center, and I still keep in touch with many of my students from then, since they were satisfied with my tutoring services.
I strongly believe that education is empowerment, so I believe that everyone deserves the best education possible that they can get, and I feel that by starting to be a tutor again, I could help some people to get to their desired education goals. If you do decide to work with me, I will provide you with a lesson plan for each session (adapted with your goals on the subject), bi-weekly assessment, and of course additional materials and homework that I feel will help to better understand the materials. I am always available after 5 o'clock, and sometimes during the weekend if you have an urgent need of tutoring sessions.
I have always been great at Math ever since I was young. I can do any multiplications up to the hundreds in my head, and have never received a grade below 3.8 in Math. I have always been teaching my friends Math since I was in 4th grade, and I am very patient with my students. Since I was educated both in Indonesia and in the USA, I have a lot of knowledge and different experiences in learning and teaching math, hence I try to take the best methods I've encountered use that to make math easier and less daunting for students.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns, and I am more than willing to work with you around your needs. I am excited to work with you and help you achieve your math goals! Vania was on time and very professional. She got right to work with my 8th grader. My daughter feels she is easy to learn from and wants to continue working with Vania
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I scored 100% on my Math SAT, and I have always been a Math tutor ever since I was in high school until I graduated college.
