Hi, hallo, olá! My name is Christina and I've been teaching for 22 years, doing what I love, from instructing German at the University of Hawaii, to teaching ESL in Austria, Brazil, and the U.S., to tutoring Portuguese and K-12 in Hawaii and California. Wherever I go, all around the world, I love helping and connecting with my students.

Hi, hallo, olá! My name is Christina and I've been teaching for 22 years, doing what I love, from instructing German at the University of Hawaii, to teaching ESL in Austria, Brazil, and the U.S., to tutoring Portuguese and K-12 in Hawaii and California. Wherever I go, all around the world, I love helping and connecting with my students.

ESL + P-ESL: I minored in ESL at university and have taught English to all ages, preschool to adult, in Austria, Brazil, and the United States. I completed a P-ESL certificate and currently tutor many wonderful ESL students from all over the world.

PORTUGUESE: I speak fluent Portuguese, have lived in Brazil on and off since 1994, and earned a certificate in Portuguese language. It's a beautiful language with such flair, which makes it a lot of fun to teach and to learn!

GERMAN: I've lived in Austria and Germany and have a Bachelor’s (2000) and a Master’s (2002) in German from the University of Hawaii. I taught German at the University of Hawaii for 12 years and now teach German at Diablo Valley College. Deutsch ist super! I love sharing it and have found all the tricks to make it easy and enjoyable to learn.

K-12: I have a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education (2000) from the University of Hawaii and have worked as a substitute teacher for all subjects K-12 for the Hawaii Department of Education and Santa Cruz area schools. I currently tutor many elementary, middle, and high school students in various subjects, including test prep for ACT, SAT, ISEE, CHSPE and SSAT and TMOSS (Time Management, Organization, and Study Skills). I recently completed a TMOSS training program, and I love to integrate education on time management, organization, and study skills into my tutoring.

Great tutor!

I contacted Christina because I had to prepare for the toefl exam. I had a month to improve radically in my writing and speaking section. From the beginning she organized how we were going to work in each section. She is very organized and has a deep knowledge about what the raters expect about your writing and speaking section so we could focus on that. Besides, she encourages me to improve in a cheerful manner without losing her professionalism and making the class more fun. Also, she is very punctual and when she arrives 2 minutes late she lets me know in advance, definitely very committed with her work. If I had to prepare for other exams I would call her, and of course I would recommend her.

I don't have enough time to speak English here in the U.S., so in the lesson, we focus on conversation. During conversation, she gives me enough opportunities to speak and teaches me lots of useful expressions, proverbs and so forth. And I don't have much info around this area and how to live here, so she gives me lots of good advice and makes me comfortable living here. She understands my goal here and prepares for the lessons and I appreciate that.
