I completed my high school degree in Paris. I then pursued a career as an Optician in Paris after having attended Optometry school in the French Alps.
After 20 years of living in France, I moved to the East Bay. I decided that sharing the language and culture of where I grew up would be more valuable than being an optician in California. As of today, I have about 5 professional years of teaching French under my belt and my students’ ages range from 10 to 70.
I first started out sharing French language and culture to both of my daughters. It not only made me happy, but I felt like I was giving them a skill that would be valuable for the rest of their lives.
Pushing them to learn French allowed them to also have the flexibility to learn Spanish, and Mandarin.
Being exposed to these different languages has made them open-minded and aware of the world.
Currently, the eldest works at a tech company where she uses her knowledge in languages and the second one is pursuing Linguistics at UCLA.
Teaching French gives me much pleasure because I get to spread the customs and language of my nation.
From my daughters as my first students, I now better understand the struggles of acquiring a language as well as how to break the challenges down into easier puzzles. My priority is to create a positive and energetic relationship with my students. I adapt to each child and go at a pace that will help them succeed and improve their grades. Not only am I more than capable at following public/private school programs, but I am also able to make sure that the students are always prepared for the next step.
I cover conversational French, grammar, and pronunciation that will prepare you to not only excel in your French course but also to travel to France. For those who have learned French years ago, I am the right person to help you get back on track.

Tina was quickly able to determine my level in French and choose creative and challenging activities to help me resolve shortcomings in French. She is able to determine when/how to interject help and when to let me work through a communication problem. Tina is constantly positive and interested in the activities we do together. Tina's cheer, patience, and creative competence create a positive and comfortable atmosphere for me to express myself, accept my errors, and have pride in my successes.
She just stared working with my 9 year old daughter and I am very grateful we found her. She has such a kind and outgoing personality. Great instruction too! We are very pleased.
Tina has done a great job helping my son with his French 4 class. With her help, he received a 95% on his first test!
Tina is a great tutor. She is patient and has a very positive attitude. I am taking french lessons to become more fluent and for personal enrichment. Tina is willing to talk about subjects of my choosing but also comes to our sessions prepared with interesting subjects. She makes learning fun and interesting.
Tina is a great tutor, extremely patient and accommodating. She has worked diligently to tailor a program that fits my needs and abilities. Through positive reinforcement, careful guidance, and a welcoming style, she has allowed me to work at my own pace while giving me the confidence needed to make progress. I would highly recommend Tina.
Tina is very patient and sincere. She tailors the lessons to my son's needs and truly cares about his progress/learning. In about 6-8 week's time, my son's grade went up 1/2 letter grade (French 3 in high school). I'm very pleased and definitely would recommend her.
My son was having a tough time in French. With each lesson, his confidence level is improving. This week he shared with me that he was actually answering questions in class - a first in two years of French.
Tina makes learning French fun! She always shows up to my lessons with a bright, bubbly attitude. Tina has been helping me review the material I learn in class. She has been focusing on correcting my American accent (I am determined to speak French one day without my southern drawl) while making me laugh at myself. She is always patient and kind with her feedback. I am hoping that with her help, I can sound like a native of a country that borders France soon.
I've completed 4 lessons - we meet once a week. The great thing about Mme. H is she is totally non-judgmental and gives me permission to speak French despite the fact the I butcher the French language. But I know the only way to speak French conversationally is to speak French even though I struggle. Mme. H gently corrects my pronunciation, helps guide me through verb tenses, gives me doable homework for the next session, and is willing to speak with me on any given subject of my choosing.
Tina is my son’s French tutor. She is very nice, patient, and knowledgeable. She keeps my son interested in learning by using different tools such as whiteboard. She is also a caring teacher and knows how to work with kids. Thank you so much Tina!
I am a junior in college and studying abroad the 2013-2014 year in Aix-en-Provence, France. I found Mme H. on Wyzant and I could not be happier with my experience with her. She is very knowledgeable about the French language and French culture. I believe that my lessons with her have prepared me to make the most out of my experience in France. I had around 10 lessons with her and she was very patient in helping me understand what we were learning, even if that meant going over our allocated time. I could not recommend her lessons more for all who are looking to improve their French skills. Bonne Chance!
Ms. Tina has been tutoring my daughter for roughly 2 weeks.
She is patient and works well with my daughter. Her lessons are well planned. Her methods are systematic and effective. As a result, my daughter enjoys her lessons and made much progress during this short period of time.
Tina is a great tutor who deeply cares about her students. I can tell because she expresses her concern and reaches out to my daughter. My daughter's test grades are improving already and most importantly, my daughter tells me she is learning a lot. Tina is also flexible and understanding with our busy schedules. Thank you Tina!
My daughter is a high school French student. Ms. H speaks French beautifully and helps my daughter jump ahead in her class. They focus a lot on precise pronunciation and grammar.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
