UC San Diego (Political Science)
UCLA LUSKIN SCHOOL OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS (Master's)
I recently graduated with a master's in public policy at UCLA.
I have more than five years of tutoring experience as a volunteer and private tutor. I can help my students best with their English, reading, essay writing, and SAT verbal preparation. I am also comfortable with tutoring social studies and math up to geometry and statistics. I am proficient in GIS, STATA, and Sharepoint.
I earned my B.A. in political science and minors in history and education at the University of California, San Diego. These disciplines have honed my skills in being a critical and analytical writer. My background in education also has given me the tools to be an effective tutor.
My former students come from diverse backgrounds. I have worked with youth of all ages, from elementary school all the way up to college undergraduates. I have tutored students with special learning needs, students from underprivileged backgrounds, and students who already excelled in their academics.
I am passionate about teaching, and I do it with a purpose. Being a tutor is my way of fulfilling my commitment and deep value for education. I would like to impart my knowledge and skills as a learner and tutor to all my students. My ultimate goal for them is to develop their academic independence and excellence and to become creators of knowledge themselves. It would be my privilege to be a part of that process. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
