I recently graduated with a master's in public policy at UCLA.
I have five years of tutoring experience as a private tutor in English, reading, essay writing, and SAT verbal preparation. I am also comfortable tutoring social studies and math levels up to geometry and statistics. I am also proficient in GIS, STATA, and Sharepoint.
I earned a BA in political science and minors in history and education at the UC San Diego. These disciplines have honed my skills as a critical and analytical writer. In addition, my background in education also has given me the tools to be an effective tutor.
My students come from diverse backgrounds. I have worked with all ages, from elementary to college levels. I have tutored students with special needs, diverse backgrounds, and those who already excelled in their academics.
I am passionate about teaching, and I do it with a purpose. Being a tutor is one way I fulfill my commitment and deep rooted value for education. I would like to impart my knowledge and skills as a learner and educator to each one of my students. My ultimate goal is to develop their academic independence and excellence and to become creators of knowledge. It is my privilege to be a fundamental part of that process. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
