About Edward

I am a kind, easygoing man with lots of teaching experiences from K-graduate school. I designed courses for teachers on motivating students to learn. I have a doctoral degree in Education from the University of Oregon. I recently tutored at the K-8 levels and continue as a substitute teacher and classroom volunteer. Students like my playful personality and sense of understanding their needs.

I have worked with diverse populations of students ranging from autistic to gifted. Patience and empathy are my important characteristics. In conclusion, my experiences as a teacher (23 years) and tutor (5 years) lead me to become a confident and competent educator.

I relate the needs and experiences of students to skills and knowledge they must learn. I have published creative fiction which means I am also a avid reader. As a teacher and writer, I am skilled at teaching English, grammar and reading. I have made presentations to small and large groups.

In addition to being a skilled tutor, I am an athlete, music-lover, hiker, gardener and always open to new experiences. My schedule is flexible and can see you at any time on any day.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
