Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Piano

I completed three years of classical theory and one year of extended jazz theory. Have been playing piano since 1973...

Am currently studying Jazz Piano and Jazz Arranging for Piano at the Berkeley Conservatory of Jazz Music with Frank Martin.

Songwriting

My BA is in English (emphasis in Creative Writing), with minors in Performing Arts (emphasis in Music Performance/Songwriting), and Business Management (emphasis in Marketing). In addition to the songwriting courses I completed while earning my BA degree, I have continued to study songwriting with award winning Bay Area songwriters. I have a blog page that focuses on songwriting, and am committed to this artform.

In my state-of-the-art audio recording/mastering studio, I am able to record and produce your songs. In addition to producing your songs for you, I can assist you with piano, guitar, saxophone and vocal parts. The rate I charge for these services is the same rate you will pay for my songwriting assistance. I have produced three(3) CDs that are sold worldwide through iTunes and other distributors, and am a registered Songwriter and Publisher with ASCAP.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Voice (Music)

From 1973 through 1977 I studied classical voice technique with one of the top 10 Soprano Vocalists in the Nation, Nella Girollo. I sang in all of her choirs and jazz vocal ensembles for those 4 years, and had lead roles in musical theatre plays such as God Spell, The Fantastics and The Devil and Daniel Webster (light opera).

In the 1980s, I studied advanced vocal technique at Hayward State. Currently, I am studying privately with a vocal coach, and know how important it is to always be improving your vocal skills.

I am actively performing in the Bay Area, and because I have studied with a variety of coaches in different styles, I have a lot to offer as I have learned a variety of approaches to improve vocal skills. A lot depends on your intentions and what you want to achieve.
