About Louis

I have more than 5 years experience in professional programming. I've been working for major universities (non-academic positions) in Los Angeles and am specialized in web applications as well as windows form applications.

I have extensive experience in front end interfaces (HTML, Javascript, AJAX, CSS) as well as backend database development (MS SQL, MySQL). Languages I've worked with include but not limited to ASP.NET, VB.NET, PHP, Cold Fusion. As a master student, I had also worked with C and C++ so I can also provide help on these languages as well. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from UCSD and a Master's degree from UCLA.

At work, I have been giving SQL and programming trainings to junior programmers. I also help student workers to understand basic principles and design patterns of professional programming. I explain complex programming concepts in simple language (not fancy jargons to scare you out) and help you visualize the logic as if it is a roadmap on hand. I use programming examples that either I came across in my professional experiences or are something very close to industry standard to bring you a real picture of what real programming looks like.

Besides all these, I am also a fun person to work with. I hope to help you succeed in your learning path.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ASP.NET

I took classes at UCLA Extension in ASP.NET programming. I have 2-year professional experiences in this subject. I have a Master's degree in Computer Science from UCLA.

C

Most of the courses in my Master's degree in Computer had lab classes that required C programming. More advanced classes include OS programming, multithread programming, and working out a torrent application. I am a professional programmer in VB.NET.

C#

I took classes at UCLA Extension in C# programming and earned a certificate on Applications Programming Certificate with Concentration in C# .NET. I also work on C# coding in my professional aspect. My projects include ASP.NET using C# code files as well as windows form programming.

C++

I've earned a Master's degree in Computer subject. Most of the courses have lab classes that require C programming which is an even more advanced version of C++. Also in my undergraduate study, I did a couple other computer classes in C++ and got excellent grades as well. As a professional programmer in VB.NET I'm sure I'm qualified to tutor for C++.

Computer Programming

I have been working as a professional programmer for more than 5 years. My specialties include C, C++, ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#.NET, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, MS SQL and more. I have been tutoring students from all levels from high school CS students to working adults who wanted to pursue computer programming as career.

JavaScript

I am a professional web application programmer. I've done many of website interface effects using Javascript and jQuery. In my graduate milestone project, I also help coded an advanced networking model, called named-data networking, using server side Javascript.

Visual Basic

Visual Basic is my current professional day-to-day routine. I code for web applications as well as windows form applications. More than half of these codes are in VB.NET. Enhancing our VB.NET framework is also part of my duties as well. VB.NET has very similar syntax as C# for which I've earned an Applications Programming Certificate with Concentration in C# .NET from UCLA Extension.

Very Helpful

Louis was a great help. He walked through my code and helped me find some mistakes I had made and correct the errors.
