I have taught for approximately 27 years. I have taught grades 1 through 6. My basic philosophy is to be the kind of teacher that I would have wanted my two children to have. I treat each child with respect, kindness and the belief that they will succeed. I am very encouraging, and will treat your child as an individual with his or her's own unique learning style. The fact that you are seeking a tutor for your child shows me that you are a concerned parent! Learning is a team effort, the team being composed of the parent, the student, and the teacher. With mutual respect, the team will be successful!!!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was an Elementary School Teacher for almost 30 years. I have taught grades 1st through 6th and have incorporated phonics in my teaching of reading. I give my students the tools and skills needed and then declare them an Agent of Reading. and we determine the Mystery Word together. I work to build up confidence as we go along. I concentrate on what the student knows...and build from there!
