About Greg

I would look forward to helping your son or daughter succeed in their studies. My background is in music and also in teaching English as a second language. I hold a B.A. degree in piano performance from Cal State L.A. and have taught piano for over 30 years as a private teacher. I earned a Master's Degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in 2010, and have done private tutoring in ESL, and also teach English as a volunteer in Pasadena. I am a native speaker, and also have extensive knowledge of grammar and literature.

I enjoy working with both children and adults, and teach a traditional approach for my piano instruction. Scales and chords, theory, technique, and repertoire are covered in my lessons. I offer two recital programs each school year.
I am currently teaching from the "Ventures" textbook for a class of ESL adults at the intermediate level. I have also taught beginning and advanced ESL. I like to balance the practice of reading and writing, speaking and listening with my ESL students, and give them ample practice with each new concept. I like to make learning fun, and feel that I am good at keeping my students motivated. I am known for my patience and sense of humor.

I have enjoyed teaching for many years, and still gain a lot of satisfaction in working with my students in both piano and ESL lessons. I gain a lot of pleasure in getting to know each student and their families, and seeing the students attain their goals.
