Hi! I have over eleven years of experience working at tutoring and test prep centers and with individual students.

I'm now a teacher at a private high school in West Los Angeles and at a university in the San Gabriel Valley. My interests range from the sciences to humanities, focusing especially on math, physics, philosophy, and art history. I studied mathematics at Caltech, and in the future, I plan to attend a graduate program for a PhD in philosophy.

I've had students from middle school to college and graduate level - I've taught classes and workshops at universities and test prep centers, and mentored students through the college application process. I was a tutor at Caltech, as well as the lead teaching assistant for summer math programs. In private tutoring, I have worked with students from many high schools, colleges and universities in the Los Angeles area (including PCC, ELAC, Mt. SAC, Polytechnic School, La Canada High School, Loyola High School, and others) since I moved here seven years ago, on a wide range of subjects.

A quick note about availability and locations: I usually prefer to tutor near Pasadena, including in La Canada, Glendale, Arcadia, and San Marino. However, I also teach near Santa Monica certain days; on those afternoons, I can tutor within the greater Los Angeles area (between Santa Monica and Pasadena, or in the San Fernando valley).

Thanks, and I hope we can meet soon!

French,

French

I first took French my sophomore year in high school. I advanced quickly and skipped a year of French to advance to French 3 my junior year, and AP French my senior year (I scored a 5 on the AP test). At Caltech, I have taken courses on French film and literature, and I continue to immerse myself in French culture (especially through film and philosophy).

Biology,

Biology

I took biology and AP biology in high school (and scored a 5 on the AP exam), and I have taken courses in biology at Caltech. I have tutored students in biology for four years now.
Calculus,

Calculus

I taught myself calculus during my sophomore year of high school. During junior year, I took a multivariable calculus class through Stanford University. When my friends took AP Calculus my senior year, I organized a weekly tutoring session to help them review and prepare for the AP test (I scored a 5 on the BC test). At Caltech, I took more advanced courses in single variable and multivariable calculus, as well as real analysis, the rigorous foundation behind the subject. I have tutored students taking these courses at Caltech and PCC for three years now.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

I took chemistry at a community college while I was in high school, and took AP Chemistry as well (and scored a 5 on the AP test). At Caltech, I took courses covering physical and organic chemistry.

Geometry,

Geometry

I took geometry as a freshman in high school. However, the concepts learned in geometry are fundamental to advanced work in math, especially in trigonometry, calculus, and college and graduate-level geometry (algebraic, differential, etc.). As a math major at Caltech, I have used geometry on a daily basis, including in coursework and research. I have also tutored students in geometry for over seven years.
Physics,

Physics

In high school, I took both physics and AP Physics courses (and scored 5 on both the AP Physics B and C tests), and I learned classical mechanics and quantum mechanics on my own. At Caltech, I have taken courses on classical mechanics, electrodynamics, waves, quantum mechanics, statistical and thermal physics, mathematical physics, and general relativity. My research focused on mathematical and theoretical physics, and I am very familiar with the subject. I have been tutoring Caltech and high school students in physics for four years.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I have been preparing students for the math portion of the SAT and ACT tests, as well as the SAT subject test in math, for many years now. I have worked at test prep centers in the LA area, taught group courses, and worked with individual students. I've designed curricula for 10-week and 5-week programs to prepare for the tests - feel free to ask me about them!

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I have taken several courses on differential equations. While in high school, I completed Stanford University's differential equations course. I also took a more advanced, analytical version at Caltech. I have used differential equations in my work, and published a research paper on the solution of certain differential equations in theoretical physics.

Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

I first learned linear algebra on my own during the summer after my sophomore year in high school. During my junior year of high school, I enrolled in a linear algebra course at Stanford University. At Caltech, I took another, more advanced, course in linear algebra. As a math major, I use it constantly and am very familiar with the subject. Great Tutor

Chris was super patient and very informative. He helped me make sense out of my statistics assignment. He walked me through the process and made it understandable. I am very grateful for him being so detailed oriented with my questions and helping me to understand the process of the how's and why's of statistics hypotheses and one and two tailed sample testing. Many thanks, Chris, for all of your help! You are a great tutor!

Great Tutor!

I began this semester not knowing anything in statistics, but Chris taught me everything I needed to know. He's great at explaining details, formulas, etc., and most of all, very patient. Great tutor. I give him an A++++

Incredibly patient, fantastic help for test prepping!

Chris was a big help when it came to helping me prep for my college algebra final. He was very thorough, instantly knew what I was having trouble with, and gave me problems to help me solidify the material. He was incredibly patient and made sure that I understood what was being taught. I highly recommend him!
