Teaching is my passion! I've been in this field for the past ten years with students of various age groups, backgrounds and different difficulties. I am bilingual in Arabic and Armenian, and very fluent in English both with my education (Bachelors in English Language & Literature) and experience (English teacher in international schools). Along with my Pedagogic Qualification Diploma, I have attended many educational seminars which prepared me to better deal with students of different ethnicities and studying difficulties. I am a supportive, encouraging, patient, and highly organized person, but also demanding and solid. I believe tutoring is teaching how to practice information with the help of the tutor; making it simple and understandable, and making it fun and useable.
Originally Armenian, born in an Arab county with English education, I have a good background in multiculturalism and diversity.
I will do my best to adjust to each student's capacity and needs and bring active lesson plans with suitable educational methods, which will result in a positive learning environment. Maggie is very patient with me all the time. I learned a lot from her. She helped me on grammar and vocabulary. I can only stay in the US for three months because I have to go back to China, but I would recommend Maggie to anyone as an ESL tutor.
This was my first experience with WyzAnt and I was really fortunate to get in touch with Maggie. Arabic is not an easy language for anyone but she was excellent at giving me the crash course that I needed. She is extremely professional and organized. I especially love the personal lesson plans. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a true professional tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a native Arabic speaker with a remarkable ability to introduce the Arabic language and culture from various perspectives on an academic level, including Modern Standard Arabic and the local Levantine dialect. Coming from Aleppo, Syria, I have a Pedagogic Qualification Diploma and a Bachelors in English Language and Literature.
I have ten years of experience teaching and tutoring the Arabic language to students of various age groups; from kindergarten through undergraduate. I also teach Arabic for non-native adults starting from reading and writing the letters, words and numbers, to creating dialogues and having simple everyday conversations, both in Modern Standard Arabic and the Levantine Syrian dialect.
I have got good teaching material, specially for Elementary level children, which I brought with me from Syria. And I am also familiar with "Ahlan wa Sahlan" and "Al-Kitaab fii Taallum al-Arabiyya", which I use with adult students along with personally searched and prepared material to make the Arabic grammar simple and fun.
After getting the B.A. in English Language and Literature, I earned my Pedagogic Qualification Diploma, which qualified me to teach English for different age groups. From 2010-2012 I worked in Choueifat International School of Damascus where I taught English language to weaker learners grades 4-7, organized learning resources and classroom environment, identified children's individual and collective learning needs, planned, prepared and delivered lesson plans that cater for the full ability range within the class, and applied SABIS Educational Point System, which insures the understanding of the lesson objectives. I attended many professional development sessions and seminars to improve my teaching methods and have a better understanding of the modernistic styles. Also, from 1999-2012 I tutored students from the 3rd grade to the 11th grade subjects as English, French, Arabic, Math and Biology.
My Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature and the Pedagogic Qualification Diploma, which I earned from the University of Aleppo, qualified me to work as an English subject teacher in different international schools. In Choueifat International School, I had the chance to work both with on-level and weak learners who needed extra attention, help, and different teaching methods to pass to the on-level classes. Along with my work at school, I prepared and brought good English lesson plans to teach the language privately both to kids and to adults, who had difficulty in grasping English grammar and writing.
My Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature and the Pedagogic Qualification Diploma, which I earned from the University of Aleppo, qualified me to work as an English subject teacher for non-native speakers in different international schools. Currently preparing for the TESOL Certification, my focus is on how to teach English as a second language for learners of various difficulties. I have an excellent understanding of the mechanics of the language and pronounce my words nicely and clearly, with no strong accent. I learned different second languages myself (French and Spanish) and from my personal experience, I know how confusing it is to learn a new language. For that reason, I prepare good lesson plans that help my students make the most of their learning time. I am very patient and understanding, and It is always my privilege to guide others through their journey of learning a new language.
