Learning and teaching goes hand in hand. I believe everybody is able to learn as long as you have a good teacher. I am passionate about both and taught German and Arts (digital and the old fashioned way) to my children (now in college) and to students in the PVPUSD for over ten years.
My lessons are fun and challenging. I have a very good sense of what a student needs and is able to do without imposing stress. Having children of my own and being very involved with their school work tremendously helps me assessing a student's needs and goals.
Good communication with the parents and student is extremely important to make the tutoring experience as effective and pleasant as possible. I am very flexible with time and location but ask to give me a 24 hour notice if you need to cancel. If there is an emergency I am more than happy to work with you and try to reschedule the lesson.
Adult students are welcome and I create customized lessons for individual needs and goals.
I teach Photography / Photoshop for personal and business advancement.
I am a native German speaker and my German lessons will be specialized for high school/college students, business travelers, or for just having fun to learn the language and culture (cooking lessons also available).
Please feel free to call me with any concerns you have before or after the lesson. I am looking forward to meeting you and helping you to improve your skills and knowledge.
Being born and raised in Northern Germany will ensure you get the best German lessons and an inside look of the culture. I try to plan my lessons around real and actual cultural events.
After graduating from college with a degree in fine arts I felt passionate about continuing my need to being creative. I discovered photography and the world of digital arts. Over the last 20 years I honed my skills by taking classes and working as a freelance photographer and photo editor. My lessons go from basic to extremely creative and innovative. Besides the technical aspect I thrive to open the student's mind to ideas and visual stimulation.
My computer skills evolved over the last 20 years. Besides being a necessity to everyday life I ventured further and explored numerous software applications and programs. I learned how to optimize and fix my computer, and other technical skills. Teaching my children and older family members made me realize how important computer skills are for everybody. I can teach you how to set up your system, install software, teach you MS office, Adobe Suite and many other applications. You'll learn how to surf the net, e-mailing, social media, and so much more. Just let me know what your level is and what you like to learn.
Growing up with a family that always had great home made food on the table inspired me to learn how to cook. I specialize in American, German, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Mexican and many other cuisines. I love to prepare meals from scratch with fresh herbs and produce. Picking the right meats and cuts is another science. Home-made comfort food or a gourmet meal, it is your choice. In addition I offer cooking and grocery shopping lessons to college students. I got this idea from my own children (now in college). They have no money...no cooking skills...no shopping skills and mainly eat junk food. So I taught them to be frugal with buying just basic ingredients, add a little extra to premade foods, and how to turn inexpensive meats and produce into tasty, healthy and nutritious meals. They loved it!
I am really looking forward to hearing from you and working with you towards your goals. Please call any time with questions. Learning and teaching goes hand in hand. I believe everybody is able to learn as long as you have a good teacher. I am passionate about both and taught German and Arts (digital and the old fashioned way) to my children (now in college) and to students in the PVPUSD for over ten years.

It's always the biggest hurdle to speak in a foreign language--Martina has provided common situations about which we speak to ensure I can communicate verbally, not just through writing. Highly recommended!
I was stuck on a project and needed some guidance in getting it back on track. Martina was patient and very helpful in explaining what I needed to do. She walked me thru each step until I understood it. Thank you WyzAnt for giving me a great resource.
I met with Martina last Sunday. She made an excellent impression and would have undoubtedly have been an excellent tutor. She gave me a number of useful pointers that were helpful in my approach to daily meal preparation. However it became clear to me that I underestimated the number of hours of tutoring that I would need to achieve my goals, which means that the overall cost would exceed the amount I was prepared to spend. So I have reluctantly given up on the idea of personal instruction in favor of some form of group class.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I grew up in a family of cooks/chefs and learned at early age the basics of cooking. During the last thirty years, I refined my cooking skills through hands on approach and extensive research. Being from Europe exposed me to a variety of different cuisines and cooking methods. In addition, I have lots of experience with selecting quality produce, meats, and ingredients. My expertise is creating gourmet meals from scratch with fresh ingredients and healthy comfort foods. In addition, I enjoy putting a spin on traditional meals and using ingredients that I have on hand. My college age children and their friends enjoying my budget friendly, easy cooking lessons to supply them with delicious and nutritious food.

Being born, raised and educated in northern Germany allows me to share my language skills, inside knowledge of German culture and life, in the most interesting and powerful way.
Personal experience taught me the easiest and most effective way to learn a foreign language is to interact with a native speaker through regular conversation, listening, reading, and writing.
I took photography classes during high school and college. In addition I worked as a freelance photographer for over 20 years. In 2014 I took an online class of digital photography with Ed2go through South Bay Adult School and received a certificate of successfully completing a 24 hours course.
