I have taught as an adjunct professor at Keiser University and the University of Miami in Florida.
I enjoy one on one tutoring with students who are temporarily discouraged but are willing to put in the time to improve their grasp of mathematics. The students find that their arithmetic prowess gives them the confidence to master subjects such as algebra, geometry and trigonometry. I really like Juan and I recommend him highly. He has helped me to feel more confident in my statistics class utilizing Excel exclusively. I haven't taken statistics in over 20 years and I took it with a calculator. Rusty, is an understatement and Juan has helped me tremendously to think differently and grasp the concepts from different perspectives. He is always on time. He confirms dates we've scheduled the day before which serve as an additional reminder for me to be prepared.
Juan is tutoring my daughter in Statistics, as she has not had math for three years. This is a college level course required for her to do upper division college coursework. She was very appreciative of Juan's explanations of mathematical concepts, and they covered chapter 1 before the class starts so she can be ready for the fast pace of the course. I really like that he assigned her problems to do to reinforce the concepts.
Juan is an excellent tutor. He is very knowledgeable about the topic of Statistics and he has an easygoing, patient, and caring style that doesn't make you feel like an idiot when you're struggling with complex concepts. I don't typically recommend people but, based on my experience with Juan, I feel completely comfortable recommending him as a tutor, particularly for mature adults (40+).
I hired Mr. Juan K. for tutoring my daughter in AP statistics. From the results, I can say that he is a very qualified and experienced tutor for AP statistics. He gives his student an evaluation for the first session. Later he prepares his following sessions based on the student's weaknesses and strengths. We are very happy we found him. I highly recommend Mr. Juan K. Just tell him what kind of problems you have, he will make you feel confident about yourself.
I am continued to be impressed by the knowledge of Juan on the subject matter. I really feel prepared for my upcoming actuary exam.
Juan was prompt and knowledgeable on the subject. It has been a while since I've done statistics at this level. Although a bit frustrating for me at times, he was very patient and walked me through the process. I will continue using him.
Explains the material that is easy to understand. Always on time and very professional. We are planning to use Juan's help to improve the grade and help to pass AP Statistics test.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I completed the examinations to become an Associate of the Society of Actuaries in 1974. I am currently a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary with the U.S. Departments of Labor and Treasury.
I have a Master's Degree in Actuarial Science from Northeastern University.
