My name is James and I have a great variety of knowledge of many subjects including computers, English, writing, electronics, religion (Christian) and real estate (California). I have more than 20 years in tutoring experience with all ages being tutored. My tutoring approach is simple: discover where the student is having difficulties, make necessary corrections, and implement changes.
I hold a Certificate in Behavioral Consulting and am trained in learning behavioral studies. I have a Master's Degree in Counseling and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. I have worked as a counselor and consultant to a diverse population of people. I am trained to tutor individuals at all levels of education.
Having been a lifelong student and the holder of five college degrees, I know the rigors that are present in our scholastic system. Because of the competitiveness of most schools, it is increasingly difficult to compete against other students for the best grades. I can help you to overcome mental blocks to learning with special, simple to remember rules and mental tricks so you will get more done in less time.
It is my honor to help you. My name is James and I have a great variety of knowledge of many subjects including computers, English, writing, electronics, religion (Christian) and real estate
Had my son's first tutoring session and was very pleased with him. He presented himself very well, was concerned with our goals and created structure to facilitate it. In addition my son really enjoyed working with him which makes the knowledge transfer so much easier. He's looking forward to his warrior dinner and I am looking forward to him doing well. Thank you!
James is my tutor and he is an easy person to get along with. He is a patient person. He is easy to understand. I feel I am getting a lot out of our sessions.
While this was a first session with James, I am confident they are off to a good start and he will continue to provide my son with the tools he needs to succeed
I have not been able to discuss with my son the items he was taught but I am sure it was a beneficial tutor session.
I would like to say that James is an excellent tutor and is pleasant to work with. He is a reliable and intelligent person with a great sense of humor. He has a broad range of skills and is a creative problem-solver. His sensitivity and concern for others is what makes James an astounding tutor.
James was great to work with. As a grandmother requesting his services he always wrote me after every session with a specific review. My grandson felt he really understood his needs and they collaborated well together to move forward on his needs. I would highly recommend James.
James has been a blessing. My son has progressed beyond my expectation in just a few lessons. He shows up on time, prepared and has the ability to communicate to the point where Paul fully understands the lesson. I would highly recommend him to anybody. Look forward to working with James and my other sons. Thank you James.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
There are eight different areas tested for in the ASVAB exam. I perform a diagnostic test first to determine where the student is at BEFORE jumping into to the process of re-learning. This exhibits faster and more long lasting results than with out it.
I am former military and have a great deal of experience with these subject areas. You can rest assured that the student will be up to speed in a short period of time.
I have attended 5 different colleges all with outstanding grades. I have worked with a multitude of college counselors to get the right classes and tests for my degree programs. The college preparation process is one that is critical if you want the right school and degree program. Pre-testing is necessary for proper entry to the school and will give the student a boost off the starting line to make for a smooth transition into the school and throughout the program. Working with a counselor before the enrollment process is mandatory to plan out each semester (quarter) to make sure the classes are there and the proper support is there too. Having a plan "B" is good too in case of changes by the college/university. I have lot's of experience in all of this and can help any student prepare for the entry in to any college/university.
