I am really interested in educating the young men and women of our community. I taught High School English in an advanced private school and completed my career teaching diversified learners. These are students that do not fit the regular pattern of education.I found these students to be intelligent and eager to learn and were looking for a slower presentation of a subject or a more accelerated version. In either case, through a system of Individualized Instruction we were able to accommodate these learners. I have mastered the instruction of English Grammar and through my background of Latin and Greek I am able to familiarize students with the origin of words and thus increase their vocabulary. So, I am prepared to assist any kind of learner and see them advance.

Henry has been very patient with my daughter and has brought her a long way in her education. He has helped her in a variety of subjects and both she and I are very pleased with all that she has learned.
Thank you Henry for all that you have done for my daughter.
Henry is very professional and a good instructor very happy to have as my tutor. look forward to learning more everyday.
Henry was patient and knowledgeable about spanish and worked very well with my 7 and 11 year old kids. He came prepared and the lesson was effective.
Very nice and patient. He was very formative with everything and also let me ask alot of questions
I'm so glad that I found Henry! He is objective is his work and in his assessment and evaluation of my child and what he needs help with.
We hired Henry to help my son identify his weaknesses and give instruction on how to achieve a better score. Henry's summary was: "all he needs to do is be organized and study every day"; that is not what we were looking for.
Morton was not present for the tutoring session. I met with his son and since he was familiar with the SAT I left him with a website "Insight to the SAT" as a means of evaluating what he needs to do to achieve higher sores as his father indicated. I found out he had not been devoting time to reviewing the SAT material, so I suggested that he set aside time each day to review the SAT material. Morton's son informed me about his homework load and he said he could arrange for the use of that time to go over the needed material.
My son very much enjoyed working with Henry - he found him to be patient with explanations. Henry provided wonderful tips for helping my son feel more confident with his upcoming SAT's. Thank you and best of wishes, Henry!
Henry is a very knowledgeable teacher who can teach people with very basic knowledge of the language, all the way through advance students who want to improve their grammar, pronunciation and skills.
I strongly recommend Henry.
I have had a good time learning spanish with Henry. He is very knowledgable. I feel like I'm getting two lessons for one. I'm also getting to brush up on some English terms while learning Spanish. He's kind, punctual, and comes with helpful materials and lessons.
We absolutely love him. Both my boys get tutored by him and they like the way he teaches. Very calm, patient and covers everything. I am really glad we found him. He has been teaching my older boy reading techniques and my younger one is learning more then just Spanish. I'm glad they have Henry O. at a tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught American History in high school and enjoy reading about the history of our country. I would like to motivate students to appreciate the history of this great country.
I have studied and gotten a Master's in Religious Studies from the Catholic University in Washington, D.C. I have had training in Bible Studies covering the Bible as literature and as a text for the Catholic and Jewish religions. I have a personal interest in the Bible and would like to impart that knowledge to others.
I have taught English Grammar and Literature to high school students. I allow students to explore the meaning of the works of literature to have them see a meaning beyond the literal reading of the text.
I have taught English in High School and have taught ESL- English as a Second Language- for over ten years. I am knowledgeable and extremely patient in explaining difficult parts of English. In addition, I know Spanish and can assist students to transition from their native language to English. I truly enjoy teaching and want to help as many people as possible.
I am now retired, but I taught English for over thirty years in a local high school, and I taught ESL to adults and high school students. I am very familiar with the contents of English grammar, reading and writing and speaking. Whatever you need, I can help you obtain it.
I am very knowledgeable of Latin and have taught Latin at all levels. I used to be a member of the Classical Association back when Latin was popular in high schools. So I am not only interested in Latin but I also occasionally read Latin to stay in touch with this language. I am aware of the importance of Latin as over 90% of our vocabulary derives from Latin and many of the concepts we enjoy in our government and politics is founded on the Ancient Roman system of Law and Order.
I am a retired high school English teacher but an interest in Reading motivated me to get a Master's Degree with specialization in Reading. I became familiar with the Phonics system of the English language and have helped many students improve their reading skills by pointing out the use of Phonics. This involves the knowledge of blends and digraphs and diphthongs and their function in language. This proves an invaluable tool in learning to read and spell words correctly.
As a former teacher, I am certainly aware of the skills needed for public speaking. The first thing you must be aware of is your audience. How knowledgeable and sophisticated are they about the topic presented to them? This will direct your speech regarding interest and depth in the subject presented. This will also allow you to prepare to make your speech relevant and will regulate how deeply you want to probe into the topic. If your intent is to create interest, then you need to stimulate your audience to begin searching further into that topic. Once this has been determined your ability to speak in public will become a natural guide to continue improving your skills.
The most basic aspect of Study Skills comes down to learning organizational skills. Learning how to organize your subjects of study material is most important in a class. Whatever pertains to each subject must be kept organized and in order and not mixed up with all other subjects. Maintaining a daily record of each subject must also be kept in a record book of assignments and when they are due to be submitted. There are record booklets available to keep one organized and these must be religiously maintained. Staying organized is the one primary skill all students must always keep.
