Hello, there. My name is Francisco A., go by Frank, and I have been tutoring Math to students of all ages and grade levels since 2006. I have a background in Mathematics and Psychology as these were the topics that interest me the most during college. I graduated from the University of California San Diego where I studied Math and would often help students with simpler classes such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Algebra. I also used to help students with tougher classes such as Real Analysis and Complex Analysis.
I started tutoring since 2006 while attending high school where I tutored students struggling with courses such as Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry. This was the time where I grew the most as an educator as I had to develop the right communication skills to make concepts as simple as possible for the struggling students. While in college I was tutoring at local high schools and at a local community college. Since I was tutoring students of different ages and backgrounds. I started taking courses on psychology, human behavior, and reading books on memory and learning. I developed my own approach to teaching: self discovery through simple to understand question.
My students can expect a few things:
1) I will speak to them using simple terms they can understand.
2) I will ask simple questions that will guide them to the right solutions and build better understanding.
3) We will rely less on memory and procedure and more on understanding the answers of simple questions.
My goal with every student is to help them pass their math classes while teaching them how to think critically, relying less on memorization of equations, and using logic more often as they move onto more difficult math classes.
