Here is a little background information about myself: I am two classes away from satisfying my Bachelors of Arts Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications, with an Associate in University Studies Literature & Writing.
Currently, I am an Instructional Assistant with a year of experience working with Special Education students in the Behavioral Intervention Department (Autism, Asperger's, etc.) on the high school level. Previously, I have worked as a Marketing & Communications Assistant at a community college. In addition to this, I was a youth leader for a non-profit organization, working with children from preschool to high school.
By the way, my name is Latoya R. and I take great pleasure in working with children; my aim is to use innovative ways to engage young minds to learn and develop themselves in becoming educated, productive, successful members of the society.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Currently I work as a paraeducator in special education/ behavioral intervention in an elementary school setting. Students range from high to lower functioning autism/asp syndrome. I teach 2nd grade students in all subjects--with small rewards/incentives to encourage compliance. I am very patient, friendly, firm, positive & persistent to educate my students for success regardless of their challenges!
