I have taught and tutored all ages, from Kindergarten to PhD students in math, statistics, reading comprehension and academic writing. I have scored in the 95th percentile in all sections of the SAT, ACT, GMAT and GRE, and have lots of tricks to help students significantly improve their scores.

I have found that many students believe Math is something that you either naturally understand, or don't. It was only when I started taking required classes in Statistics as part of my PhD program that I realized math is something that anyone can learn if they are taught correctly. That realization empowered me to specialize in statistical methodology within my graduate program and was immensely helpful for my self-esteem; guiding other students to make the same progression continues to fuel my teaching. Remembering how frustrated I used to get with Math helps me to be patient with students who struggle with any subject and keep them focused on improving their skills and scores. I truly believe that any subject can be learned with time, hard work, and a good tutor!

I use the tips, tricks and materials that have helped me and other students I have taught or tutored to master subjects and entrance exams they once found overwhelming. With patience and consistency, I guide students past the anxiety of struggling with new and challenging content towards accomplishing their goals, boosting their self-esteem and realizing their full potential. The techniques I use to help students manage anxiety, prevent procrastination, create study plans and track their progress apply to any subject, from helping students write college application essays to getting their goal score on the GMAT.

As a current graduate student at University of California, Berkeley, I have taken the GRE myself twice and scored above the 90th percentile in both sections both times, with a perfect score on the Verbal section. I also regularly coach undergraduates that I have taught at Berkeley in how to prepare for the GRE and what tips work best for test day.

Statistics

As a PhD Candidate, I was the coordinator for the Statistics Tutoring program for graduate students for one year, and a statistics tutor myself for two years. I was a PRISM fellow for one year during my master's program, meaning that I served as the TA for the Math Camp for incoming graduate students, held office hours to advise graduate and undergraduate students on data analysis in their own work and in their problem sets, and gave presentations on advanced statistics and programming. I have also taught undergraduate statistics, and taken a range of courses in statistics from probability theory to multi-level regression to causal inference. I have used various programs, including Excel, STATA and R for data analyses in my coursework and for my own publications, as well as LaTex and Beamer for problem sets and technical presentations.

ACT Reading

I have helped students increase their ACT scores by as much as 12 points, and their SAT scores by 200. My own scores are in the 99th percentile, and I understand from personal experience that it is as important to manage test anxiety as it is to master test content. I enjoy working with students one-on-one to help them find the techniques and strategies that will enable them to feel confident and achieve their desired scores.
SAT Writing,

SAT Writing

Many students struggle with the writing section of the SATs because they think there is some mystery to writing well. Rather, I have found that specific strategies and an understanding of the logic behind the writing section can turn a frustrating and stressful testing experience into an opportunity for empowerment. Based on my experience helping students to raise their SAT scores by as much as 200 points and in my tutoring and grading of college essay writing, I would argue that the skills required by the SAT writing section are also the most crucial skills for succeeding in college.

SAT Math,

SAT Math

My mission is to convince every student that there is no such thing as a person who "just can't do math." Instead, I firmly believe that every person can achieve their academic goals with some effort and individualized guidance. In helping to raise students' SATs by as much as 200 points, I have found that math scores are much more flexible than most people assume. While finding and filling in the gaps in a student's mathematical knowledge, I also show students how the skills they employ on the verbal sections can be applied to success on the math section as well.

An Amazing Tutor!

As a School Administrator, I can tell you that Kristine is worth every penny. She helped me to reformulate my research question, independent and dependent variables, create a regressions chart, and interpret data for my quants class. I took a lot away from her teaching, and wished I had her from day one.

Thoughtful and Knowledgeable

Kristine is patient and thorough, making sure my son has a good understanding of his algebra. She has the ability to adjust her technique to support my son's learning style - which is helping him gain more confidence.

Encouraging, knowledgeable, and amazing tutor!

Kristine taught me GRE analytical writing and verbal section. I have done more than 6 hours with Kristine. I had no idea how to get a good grade in analytical writing at first. I started the session two months before my test and she helped me to get an idea of how to write an analytical essay for GRE. From basic structure to my writing style, she helped me with everything! I'm not a native English speaker so I was very satisfied with the writing score I got after the sessions with Kristine. Also for the verbal section, I hoped I had more sessions with her. Even though I'm good with my current score, I think I would have done better with more sessions with Kristine. Anyway, she was a great tutor!

Wonderful, patient and reliable tutor

Kristine was very patient and knowledgeable. She helped my daughters with their essays, editing and commenting on what areas need improvement. She also helped them with their ACT prep in reading. I would highly recommend Kristine.

Great tutor!

Kristine was an amazing tutor, she provided great feedback for my English essay, as well as APA format information which I'm not good at. I would highly recommend, you won't be disappointed!

Extremely patient, and very clear in explaining

Kristine was my first ever tutor. She offered great feedback on what I had prepared so far and opened my eyes as to how and where I should expand. I would definitely recommend her to others, and I myself will be in contact with her to schedule another appointment very soon!

Skilled and patient tutor

Great tips and kind critiques with very helpful suggestions. Feeling less anxious about the GRE. I will definitely be back after trying a couple of study techniques.
