My first job was tutoring young students at a community center. I'm extremely patient and good at explaining how something works. I really enjoy it when a student delves into a subject with me and really being to understand it. Every student learns at a different pace and not everyone is going to pick something up at the first try, but I'll do my best to explain things clearly and carefully.
I'm an expert at Illustrator and Photoshop. I'm also trained in tradition media such as oil painting and charcoal drawing. I tend to do most of my art digitally as that is where I am most comfortable. For the last 5 years I've worked as a graphic designer for a company in Berkeley called Powis Parker.
Working as a graphic designer for Powis Parker, I learned Illustrator on the job and used it in many of the projects that I've had to work on. Examples include: patent illustrations for numerous products, brochures, flyers, websites, and a variety of other things. I can create photo-realistic vector drawings in Illustrator.
I've know how to used Photoshop since I was in high school and my skills in it has improved greatly since I've worked as a Graphic designer. I know advanced techniques such as actions, automation, alpha channels, masking, and various other things. I'm comfortable enough with Photoshop that I can sketch in it with a Wacom tablet without needing a scanned sketch as a guide.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns you may have I'm more than happy to address anything you want me to elaborate on. I'm happy to touch on subjects beyond Illustrator and Photoshop, I have some experience in Indesign and animation as well although I'm not an expert on those subjects. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
