In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a certificate of achievement in American Sign Language and Deaf Studies from Ohlone College. also I have experience as an ASL tutor there for 3 years, also private tutor for a year. I still tutor ASL, and help with editing hand shape form, and showing how to use facial expression to fit body language. I have learned lots of tutoring methods under Sandra Ammons and Sandra "Bunny" Klopping who are currently professors at Ohlone College. I have experience with different styles of sign language as I was student at Gallaudet University 2004-2006.
