I have four years experience working as a high school chemistry teacher and taught the school’s three levels of AP, Honors, and College-Prep Chemistry. I designed the curriculum, assessments, and other resources for these courses and gained experience working with students of a variety of skill levels. Prior to working as a teacher, I worked at a private tutoring center and helped students one-on-one in chemistry, algebra, and ACT Math and Science. I graduated summa cum laude from college and took numerous education classes that were part seminar and part placement in a high school classroom. These classes introduced me to the strategies and approaches to take in working with students and allowed me to put these into practice in actual classrooms. Since the pandemic, I have moved back to private online chemistry tutoring and have used my teaching experience to help students on an individual level to achieve their academic goals.

I spent a lot of time developing and refining the curriculum and resources and thinking about how to best deliver these to students to allow them to develop a solid understanding of the material. I still utilize many of these resources including homework sets, lecture slides, and different levels of assessments while tutoring students, and I will also use any resources provided by students/parents. In my first year of teaching AP Chemistry in 2019 my class of 24 students showed a 100% pass rate and had an average score of 4.29 on the AP Exam. In 2020, I had 14 of 15 students earn a passing score on the AP Exam. Since then, I have moved to online chemistry tutoring and have worked with thousands of students over 4,700+ hours on Wyzant in AP, Honors, and College-Prep Chemistry.

I designed the curriculum, assessments, and other resources for these courses and refined them to most effectively deliver material to students. I also have several years experience tutoring chemistry to students on an individual level, including 4,400+ hours on Wyzant. My tutoring approach focuses on both the why and how of chemistry as I will explain to students both chemical principles and how to apply these principles in solving problems.
