I have two years experience teaching English as a second language to students from age 12-69. I have tutored, worked with adult immigrants through the Oakland School District, taught writing at a state university, and have extensive experience at a private language school.
I enjoy teaching all levels and have specific expertise teaching advanced students wishing to take their skills to the next level. I make the lessons fun and make them about what my students need to improve their own abilities. I cover grammar, vocabulary, conversation, writing, and more. Additionally, I have an extensive knowledge of both formal and informal language and a vast supply of resources collected for every level of student.
Prior to beginning my ESL teaching career, I was a professional corporate writer at a major bank for more than ten years. This experience helped me to perfect my writing skills, which I am glad to share with my students. Students seeking to improve their business English will find this know experience valuable.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
