During my freshman year of college, I was undecided. I took a class that required me to complete at least 10 volunteering hours in an elementary classroom. I volunteered in my former elementary teacher's class for at least two hours every Friday morning. Even after I finished my 10 hours, I loved working with the students so much that I continued to volunteer until the end of that school year. I realized my passion for teaching.

I am familiar with the Common Core State Standards. I learned how to teach math to elementary students when I was in college and I applied what I learned during student teaching and working as a substitute teacher.

I also encouraged students to develop their writing abilities. In addition, I briefly worked with English language learners at a high school and helped them with reading comprehension.

I worked in a middle school special education classroom for two years. Most of the students in that class had autism. I assessed students in academic areas to evaluate specific goals for each student's Individualized Education Program. I have also subbed in many special education classrooms, including mild/moderate, moderate/severe, and RSP.

I feel happy to help students achieve exce

Organized. Great communication.

Elementary Math: My son gives good feedback each lesson! He thinks Melissa is great and that the lessons help him understand math concepts better! I like that Melissa plans the lessons well and communicates regularly! I believe that she will be consistent with these great attributes!
