About Wendy

Hello English language learners!

I am a kind and patient tutor who understands the language needed to succeed in academia. I have a master's degree in Applied Linguistics/TESOL from San Diego State University where I specialized in functional grammar, second language acquisition, and English for Specific Purposes. I currently teach ESL at a local community college and taught ESL composition classes at SDSU. I also served as the Writing Placement Assessment Advisor at SDSU, helping students improve their scores on the writing placement exam, and tutored in the university writing center.

I've been teaching English for over six years, including three years in Japan. Having lived in Japan and studied in Mexico, I understand the challenges you face and can help you achieve your individual goals.

As a tutor, I can help you identify and overcome your weaknesses while building upon your strengths. Each session is centered on your individual needs and goals.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
