I have been teaching English at CA State University since 2002. I have extensive experience teaching English grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, test preparation, personal and business writing. I teach English Language Learners and English as a Second Language. I have tutored many students from many different countries—such as China, Korea, Japan, South America, and Europe. I have been working with writing students at Yonsei University in Korea since 2008.
I believe in designing tailored programs for individual students to reach their goals. I analyze each student’s strengths and weaknesses. The emphasis on the strong points can allow the student to build the confidence so that the weak areas will become stronger. I know that once the student finds that inner strength there will be growth.
I have experience teaching and tutoring students from elementary school to mature adults. I can work along with the student’s school assignments, and I can create additional assignments to supplement the classroom. In writing, I can lead in the process from the first idea, answering a given prompt, organization, outlining, and the final product.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I teach all facets of the English language--including grammar, writing, vocabulary, punctuation, speech, and unusual terms such as slang.
