I have experience taking an education class while studying at UC Berkeley. As part of this class I was also require to tutor/study a second grade classroom in Oakland, CA. From this study I was able to write my own research paper detailing what I believe is the difference in everyone's ability to learn. I found what is most important is the ability to focus and patience. Everyone is just as smart as everyone else. It's just about giving yourself the right chance.

I have taken several public speaking courses and participated in Model United Nations which requires an extensive amount of public speaking. During my time participating in Model UN, I constantly had to practice public speaking. In all competitions I had to publicly make speeches regarding extremely complex issues and not only appear knowledgeable, but also persuasive.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
