About Trichette

I have been a teacher for over ten years, during which time I have taught all classes from 1st through 6th grade. In addition, I have taught 7th grade students in all areas for a school’s after-school program and 8th grade Mathematics as part of a support program. Throughout my teaching career, I have created a variety of teaching resources. It has been my experience that bold and interesting presentations, whether delivered orally or in written form, draw students into the learning environment and peak their interests. With this in mind, my teaching style is to engage students using any effective methods available to me. Motivating students to be independent learners, to participate actively in the learning environment and to become independent learners is my most significant purpose as a teacher.

For seven years (until 2014), I lived and worked in France as an Anglophone teacher in a French school's 50/50 bilingual section. For each class, I am responsible for planning and coordinating the implementation of all primary subjects, which I teach in English at the same level that I would in an Anglophone country. This involves continuous revision, research, and the creation of educational materials to suit the goals of each unit, which are based upon the French Ministry of Education’s stated objectives as well as the US's Common Core. Last year I moved to Mexico where I taught in a bilingual Mexican school. My previous jobs and experience have given me the linguistic diversity that I have always sought and have assured me that I can adapt to diligent educational environments and students.

My teaching philosophy and practice are simple. The whole student is the focus of education. Any effective tutoring must address the overall needs of the individual student. Everything from educational materials to learning activities must have the ultimate goal of taking advantage of each child's strengths while enhancing their skills in weaker areas. Therefore, it is imperative that I be flexible and work with students in order to bring out their best ability. My primary responsibility as a teacher is to facilitate an environment that encourages learning and self-discovery while providing access to the necessary resources that will allow the student to become a global citizen. This is a quality I am proud to say I possess.

I have a 10-hour cancellation policy, however, I will try to reschedule any missed classes based on our mutual availability. I can come to your home, or we can agree upon a neutral location near your home.

Having worked in international schools with students learning English for the past 9 years, I have extensive experience teaching English to English Language Learners, as well as native speakers. All of my students have dramatically improved their understanding and use of English throughout the course of each year, regardless of their level of English at the beginning of the school year.

As part of my valid BCLAD (Bilingual Multiple Subject) teaching credential, I am also authorized to teach single-subject-matter Spanish and French courses in grades nine and below, including elementary school. In addition, I have worked in France, Mexico and Spain.

I have 5 years of experience teaching the US Common Core in France in 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th grades.

My teaching credential is in bilingual elementary education. I have also taught all elementary grades over the past 12 years.

One of my biggest strengths as a teacher is that I help build students' self-confidence in any academic area. By instilling this crucial tool, students are sure to become lifelong learners, rather than just tolerating their education. I sincerely look forward to working with students who could use this extra boost in self-esteem, so please contact me at your earliest convenience!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I hold a BCLAD Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential, which states that this credential authorizes the holder to teach all subjects in a self-contained class and, as a self-contained classroom teacher, to team teach or to regroup students across classrooms, in grades twelve and below, including preschool, and in classes organized primarily for adults. In addition, this credential authorizes the holder to teach core classes consisting of two or more subjects to the same group of students in grades five through eight, and to teach any of the core subjects he or she is teaching to a single group of students in the same grade level as the core for less than fifty percent of his or her work day.

French

One of the specializations of my California Clear teaching credential is that I am authorized to teach French in a classroom (Authorization Code R2B in French).
