University of Memphis (Recording Technology)
Hey potential students/concerned parents,
My name is John, and I have a pretty good track record when it comes to teaching and the experience I have gained. Let's start with me being a graduate of the University of Memphis with a degree in Communications. Immediately after graduating, I became a Substitute Teacher that would travel to help around the Memphis, TN area. I eventually settled at an Alternative School, where even the teachers there did not want to work not deal with the troubled students.
I quickly adapted and helped students (those who wanted to learn and some who didn't) turn around and encouraged excitement about what they were studying. At the end of the day, they want to know "why" they are learning it and if you can get that across by getting them invested, they're already on their way to passing the class!
I am very calm and patient with those I help. If it so happens that one technique doesn't work, then I quickly change by learning more about who they are and try teaching in a way they can best understand. I also used to go tutor at an Elementary School during my college years along with both of my parents being teachers all my life. So, I'd like to think I'm pretty well-rounded!
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! Hey potential students/concerned parents,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I'm qualified for Elementary (K-6th) because of my former experience as a Tutor at a Middle School while attending college. I also have experience Substitute Teaching after graduating college. To continue with my progress, I was approved after passing a Math, English, and Reading test to be qualified to substitute teach in California. This is after I moved from Tennessee to continue helping children learn. I am also a graduate of the University of Memphis with a degree in Communications.
I have been writing songs for over 10 years. I took a songwriting class in College to further my studies on the matter and how it operates. In simple terms, the hook needs to be catchy and the song, overall, has to be relatively easy to sing for the audience.
I have taken voice training ever since I was in High School. I was in Advanced Choir and then was approved for All-West Choir as one of the select few in Advanced Choir to make it. I then took Chamber Music, University Singers, and Jazz Voice classes in College. After graduating, I'm still taking voice lessons by John Davies on The Lot in Los Angeles, CA.
