In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I began my studies in cello with Joseph Saunders at the age of eight, continued at Northwestern with David Low, and have played in the UCLA orchestra, CSUN and community symphonies. I have extensive chamber music experience and run my own concert series at a church. I have taught in my private studio for about thirty years.
I studied with Paul Reale at UCLA and use many of his techniques for ear training. I am an adjunct professor in the Los Angeles City College district. I have trained as a conductor in vocal, instrumental and opera which requires advanced ear training.
I have been a professional musician in Los Angeles for many years. I taught music appreciation, music 101, piano, chamber music, and piano in the Los Angeles City College district since 2001. I run my own studio and have taught many hundreds of students over the past 35 years.
I studied with Robert Winter, among others, at UCLA and received my MA in music from CSUN. I have taken many advanced courses in music history and am quite knowledgeable about the subject matter. I teach in the LA City College district.
