Sacramento State University (Liberal Studies)
Hello! I am currently a student at Sacramento State University, entering my last semester before I move on to a Teaching Credential Program. I will be graduating in December with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies. I currently have an A.A. in Liberal Arts, with Honors from Sierra College.
School was challenging for me as a child and I did not find a true passion for learning until college. I feel that since I struggled with education in elementary years I am able to easily empathize with my students who are struggling. I understand the importance of fundamentals and building a strong educational foundation. There is nothing that brings me more joy than seeing a child regain confidence in themselves after having struggled and fallen behind in school.
I feel that what makes me uniquely qualified to tutor students in math is my experience in tutoring the subject at all Elementary levels. I also recently took a course at Sacramento State that's purpose was to learn MANY different methods to teach math concepts. Often students who struggle with math simply need the concepts presented to them in a different fashion, I am able to present them with several options until we find the one that is a perfect fit for them.
English has always been my strong suit and I am very comfortable tutoring students in English and Language Arts. I also have several years' experience in working with children who are behind in reading, writing, and grammar because English is their Second Language.
I found my passion for education at a young age and have tutored since high school. I have also worked for a well known tutoring center and had great success there. Beyond private and center tutoring I have been a classroom aide where I spent most of my time working with children with English as their Second Language.
I look forward to working with your student and helping them to achieve their academic goals! Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I feel that I am qualified in tutoring elementary (k-6th) due to my educational an field work experience. I am a liberal studies major. I have an A.A. in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Elementary Education. I graduated with Honors from my Junior College, Sierra College. I am currently entering my last semester at Sacramento State University, I will graduate in December with a BA in Liberal Studies, a minor in Humanities, and a TESOL certificate. As far as field experience I have been tutoring Elementary students for 6 years. I have worked as a tutor and classroom aide for Rocklin Elementary school. My main role was to tutor children in reading, writing and math. I have also worked for a nation-wide tutoring center in which I again worked with elementary students in all subjects as well as coding and robotics. My career goal is to become an elementary school teacher and thus my background has been preparing me for such. I feel that it is for these reasons that I am very qualified to tutor in elementary (k-6th).
