About David

My passion for soccer is what drives me to coach, play and mentor kids to become soccer athletes.

What I bring as a soccer tutor that may be unique among candidates is my global career, extensive education, playing and coaching background from Kenya, Harrogate Tennessee, St Louis Missouri and Newport Beach/Newport Coast area. I started my playing soccer at the age of 6 in the streets of Nairobi, Kenya. The non-profit organization Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) rescued me from the streets and developed me to being what I am now. MYSA uses sports to give young kids the ability to build skill and confident to aim higher, improve their lives and participate in activities off the pitch like collecting litter and HIV/AIDS awareness sessions.

Being in MYSA gave me the opportunity to represent our country in youth leagues around the world. We played the Aberdeen tournament in Scotland, Ian Rush tournament in Wales, Helsinki cup in Finland, Gothia cup in Sweden. My successful youth soccer career gave me the opportunity to play in Kenya’s top clubs and representing the club in Africa champions league and Kenya’s under 23 team. In America I played soccer for Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and in 2001, we reached the final four tournament. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication.

While playing for the top club in Kenya I was actively involved with the Kenya Red Cross that is dedicated to alleviating human suffering emergency and disaster relief.

In working with youth through the years, and currently coaching, I have gained experience in developing strategies that focus on discipline and importance of early age developments. My philosophy instills self worth, direction and leadership and encourages success on and off the field to elevate self respect. Below please see my experience:

• 1985 under 10 – tournament in Norway
•1987 Under 12- tournament in Helsinki-Finland, Aberdeen cup in Scotland
• 1989 Under 14- Ian Rush Cup Wales, Norway cup and Swedish tournament

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
