“**Great Chemistry Tutor**”

I have a Ph.D. in Chemistry from MIT, as well as a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.S. in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology from UC-Irvine. In the past I have run chemistry workshops and tutored many undergraduate students. In addition, as part of my requirement for grad school I was a teaching assistant for two laboratory courses (5.311 and 5.301), which

I received a 61 on my first exam without Alex. After meeting with Alex, through hard work I was able to increase my scores eventually gaining B's on my exams and a B in the course. I highly recommend Alex as a tutor.

Alejandro L. is an extraordinary educator in every respect. His knowledge of mathematics, the sciences, and all their subspecialties encompasses an impressive breadth and depth. He also possesses an unparalleled ability to impart this information to his students so they understand, integrate, and become able to use that knowledge. Alejandro focuses on academic goals in each session in an enthusiastic, interesting, and fun way. Since he possesses a high level of academic skill, he encourages the same from his students. He also understands his students' strengths, weaknesses, and interests, so his lessons are individualized as well as highly organized. Fortunately, since we did not attend lessons with our student, Alejandro communicates articulately with parents regarding a student's progress. Alejandro is also of sound character, exhibits professional behavior, and it was a pleasure to get to know him. I enthusiastically and wholeheartedly recommend this talented young man as an educator for any student requiring assistance reviewing mathematic and scientific concepts as well as any student who wishes to expand their knowledge by learning new concepts.

Simply put, Alex is a fantastic tutor. He was always on time and exceedingly well prepared for every session. Alex had a consistent knack for recognizing the concepts that I was having trouble with, and then breaking them down into terms that were easier to understand. My grades in the class definitely improved with his help, and I heartily recommend Alex as a tutor.

My daughter tells me that Alex was able to very clearly explain the algebra concepts she was having difficulty with, plus he takes notes on their lessons, for her, in her notebook, so she can refer back to them while working on algebra problems on her own. I realized that a 14 year old doesn't really know how to take good notes yet, so that was an especially helpful thing. She is learning so quickly from him that we probably don't need as many sessions as I planned with him, but oh well. They seem to be covering most of a semester's worth of algebra in 4-5 lessons. Alex is also very easy to do business with - he answers emails and voicemails promptly and is able to schedule sessions a couple of weeks in advance, which is important for my family as our lives are pretty busy right now. My daughter was a sad, stressed-out math student, and now she feels confident and prepared for her examinations. Alex is worth every penny I've paid for this!

Alejandro's teaching method is very easy to pick up. He is patient, and will def. build your confidence in Chemistry. I hate this subject, but after one session with Alejandro, I feel confident to solve every problem.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Throughout my studies I have taken Algebra, Trigonometry, pre-Calculus, single and multi-variable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations. In all classes I've gotten no less than A's.

I am comfortable teaching any of the topics above and I have seen where they apply in the world of science, giving me a unique perspective.
