Hello fellow knowledge builders! It is very nice to meet you. :) My name is Alexandria but I am called Alex for short! I am an ongoing college student that is working on transferring to San Francisco State University to obtain my bachelor's degree in the field of Liberal Studies to be a Kindergarten teacher and to also obtain a minor degree in Asian American Studies. I plan on entering a program after I obtain my Bachelors degree where I would be able to travel to Japan and be able to assist an English teacher in the school system, which perfectly ties in with the area that I excel most at: English. English has always been my strongest subject in school in comparison to those that are good in Math and Science. I have exceptional writing skills as well as reading, comprehension, grammar, and any basic English concepts. I have always been one to help my fellow classmates, friends, younger brother, and little nephew when it comes to help with their English.
I have basic knowledge of math and science. I am not the strongest at those subjects, but I do have knowledge of certain things within each of them and will try to help if need be. My tutoring methods would be that I would try to explain the assignment or concept in a patient manner and try to break it down into easy terms for my students to understand. I usually try to give an example or two just to show how the concept works or what the teacher is expecting from the assignment. I am very patient and understanding because I know that it takes time to grasp things as I am still a student myself and learning things as I go, too. In teaching someone, I find that I am learning things about myself, too, that will also help me grow and benefit from the experience. Knowledge is a well that never runs dry!
I will offer a free consultation to discuss the specific areas where my student is having trouble and reassure them and my student's parents I will do my best to work hard alongside them and help my student gain confidence in their designated subjects.
I am flexible with my schedule to work at times that are suitable for my student, his/her family, and my school/work schedule. However, if there needs to be a cancellation of a lesson 24 hours prior to a scheduled lesson or due to exigent circumstances on either of our parts, I will offer makeup lessons.
To ensure that my students get the proper help that they need in their designated subjects, I offer to tutor in my home, my student's home, or a library. I have a mode of transportation to which I can get to and from places should I have to. I will be happy to make that little bit of extra commitment to give my students that help they need.
I look forward to hearing from you and I wish you all the best in succeeding in all your dreams and ambitions! Hello fellow knowledge builders! It is very nice to meet you. :) My name is Alexandria but I am called Alex for short! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
