Looking for a tutor to aid in understanding the very basic? It's elementary, my dear prospective student! Is to create a solid foundation to grow future learning on.
Why do I tutor these subject? Learning to read and count is one thing, helping students to understand a subject's concept is another.
Students learn best how? By repetition, and visionary teaching methods. When you are teaching your subject, what are your goals? I strive to help the students come into self-knowledge of a subject.
The above answers I happen to know full well; as a mother, a Master level educator, and a Sunday school teacher. I have witnessed students' learning come alive, when light is shed on concepts. Painting pictures to drill fact and figures into the student's mental landscape is powerful! Learning when it's visional, comes easier. As an educator, I pride myself on my success rate; based on what I deem the most important aspects of my teaching, my abilities to perceive the student's learning blockage by discerning the student's natural learning approach.
It starts by interviewing my student, this helps to see the student as a whole and not what/only his or her learning block is. In learning how the person thinks, and feel, I have learned the two components (reasoning and emotions) affect the student's will. Addressing the student as a whole in my teaching experience I have learn resolves the learning conflict. My educational training prepared me to design coursework, implement teaching techniques that makes learning a breeze. Seeing my own daughter's math tutoring needs down thru the years is the fuel that attracted me to helping others. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
