I am a student that graduated from UCR with a bachelor's in Education last spring. My joy and passion is to teach young students who have lost hope in studying. Learning is important, but I feel that it is more important to get to know the student first and incorporate what the student enjoys in the learning curriculum. I am a patient, loving, and an energetic student that loves to teach, but more importantly, see improvements from the students I work with. I have worked with AmeriCorps (a federal government program) while I was an undergraduate at UCR. When I am with a student I only concentrate on the student. I never get frustrated or irritated with the students I had worked with because I understand it takes time for young students to understand a curriculum. I will go out of my way to look for other methods for learning to be an enjoyable time. I am currently working as an Instructional Aide in the Alhambra School District. I had worked with both general education students as well as students with special needs. I am applying to Cal State Fullerton to get my master's and credentials for general education. I am committed to my students and students love to work with me.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked in a SDC (special day class) for over a year now in the Alhambra Unified School District. I have worked with students that have learning disabilities as well as students with ADHD and autism. I know how to meet the needs of the children and have a lot of patience to calm and the student. I have seen a lot of my students progress instead of regress. I see what the students enjoy and are good at and incorporate their talent and interests in the curriculum.
