About Stephanie

I used to tutor everyday after high school at Boys & Girls Club in all elementary and middle school subject areas. I love the smile on their faces as they show me their progress reports knowing I helped them improve. As their tutor, I also grew attached to these kids and would be there for them in life as a big sister mentor type concept. Speaking of high school, Boys & Girls Club is only one among many extracurricular activities I was involved in. I was also our Student Council Representative, President of Students Working Against Tobacco club, member of our Varsity Debate Team, Asian Club, and others. I graduated among the top 10% for academic performance, already a year of college courses completed from AP courses or dual enrollment at a nearby college, and a full scholarship to college.

Going on to college at University of Florida, I was personally asked to become a teaching assistant for organic chemistry after my professor observed my dedication to learning and helping others learn as well.

I did assist her in teaching organic chemistry II for the following semester. I elected and excelled in an Academic Teaching course in pharmacy school having my passion for teaching in mind. I was also an executive board member of the following: Association of Student Pharmacists, Student Council, American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (As a Business Diplomat). I was also a participating member of Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Alachua County Area Pharmacists, International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation (where I went on a medical mission trip to Haiti /Dominican Republic to help underserved people who need healthcare).

I served as an Ambassador for the UF College of Pharmacy, Career Day Chair, and Global Health Outreach Trip Vitamin Drive Coordinator. I graduated with a 3.24 GPA and a doctoral degree in Pharmacy. First thing I did after that was travel to Vietnam (yes I speak the language) for another medical mission trip (as an actual pharmacist this time!) to explore this culture and help the people in need at the same time.

I truly believe fitness is just as important as academics being incorporated into our daily lives and have been picking up whatever sport that sparks an interest since then such as running, dancing, surfing, swimming, biking, hiking and more. I have been practicing yoga almost daily for years and intend to acquire certifications to teach yoga & other fitness and hope to share and guide people to their goals.

A little more about myself... I was born in Los Angeles, California. My parents had immigrated there during the Vietnam War so they heavily emphasized the importance of education to help open opportunities we never had. We moved to Florida and lived there until I was blessed with the opportunity to practice pharmacy in Hawaii where I found my love for surfing and fitness.

I actually like and enjoy "playing" with algebra! They are fun puzzles.

I was personally asked by my organic chemistry teacher to be her teaching assistant for the following semester. I received my doctorate in pharmacy in a top 10 ranking college of pharmacy at the time and am currently a licensed pharmacist.

I am very patient and loving with elementary aged students. During high school I tutored at Boys & Girls club everyday after school in all subject areas.

I practice different types of yoga everyday, dance, run, hike, bike, surf, weights, swim. I love fitness for the energy and positivist it can bring to all our lives inside & out. I would love the opportunity to share and help people in their daily fitness goals.

I am open and available most times, ask me any question!. I'll try to make things fun and/or adapt the lessons to your learning style. There is no judgement of what your learning abilities are, what level you are at, or anything at all... All I care about is helping you get what you need out of our lessons so that you can apply them whenever you need. I am young and technologically up to date, so yes you can text me anytime.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Cosmetology

I grew up in a family business involved in cosmetology and finally acquired my own cosmetology license at 16 years of age. We owned a nails and skin care business where I not only provided cosmetic services, I also assisted in managing daily operations. Services we provided included but not limited to waxing, permanent makeup, manicures, pedicures, make up makeovers, artificial nail enhancement, beauty consultations, and so much more.
I helped train new hires as well as potential employees looking for certification. Everyone learns differently; I would tailor the combination of instruction, demonstration, and practice depending on what the person needed to better learn.

Elementary (K-6th)

I tutored all subjects at the Boys & Girls Club after school. I tailor my teaching techniques based on the individual student's needs whether they learn better by demonstration, verbal instruction, examples, etc. I also try to make it fun since elementary students attention span can be hard to keep!

Fitness

I have assisted in adjusting yoga poses during classes, helped choreograph a couple dances, and personally trained a few friends at a gym. I studied Food Science & Human Nutrition in undergraduate giving me the background I need to help nutritionally advise and help people with their fitness goals. I am quite active & fit myself and constantly read up on fitness materials and practice different fitness activities daily. I like to practice with the person I am training to help motivate them. They could just read or youtube the information; but they are looking for someone to encourage them and or practice with them. I also tailor my teaching methods based on the person's needs and what works best for them.

Nutrition

I majored in Food Science and Human Nutrition for my undergraduate program. I live a healthy lifestyle incorporating a balanced nutrition on a daily basis and would love to teach others to do the same--I have my doctorate in pharmacy from a top ten ranking college of pharmacy.

Pharmacology

I have my doctorate in pharmacy from a top ten ranking college of pharmacy at that time. The rigorous program required me to have a very detailed understanding of pharmacology. I also elected and excelled in academia teaching while in this program.

Public Speaking

I took debate as an elective in high school to study all aspects of debate; history, current debates, etc. I was a member of the Varsity Debate Team of my high school where public speaking is the very foundation of debating. My specialization was performing stories (a.k.a pure public speaking)
