A film and video tutor with current up to date working experience in the industry since 2005, I've had the opportunity to work in multiple areas of the film industry. Special effects, 3D conversion, video editing, advance motion graphics, and professional video are the main categories that I have expertise in. In 2011 I worked in the special effects department on the Hollywood blockbusters Transformers, Dark of the Moon and Smurfs. I am currently head of the video department for a media company based in New York.
My strength is producing both short and feature length documentaries. Allowing me to understand and share the process involved in each and every aspect of film and video making gives me the ability to share this knowledge with others.
My teaching philosophy is simple, "If you are having fun you will like what you do, if you like what you do you will do better work. If you do better work the world will be a better place." I continually search for individual ways to help each student to reach their full potential. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a degree from Purdue University in Computer Technology, however the degree relied heavily on basic drawing and art skills. The best qualification I can provide would be the 1,000's of drawings I've done over my life.
I won the first annual Encinitas Environmental Film Festival in 2009. I won the first annual New Belgium Brewery Clips of Faith film festival. And I've produced a feature length documentary on the lives of bicycle messengers.
I taught swim lessons all through high school. I swam, and lettered all four years, for Purdue University. After college I was head coach of the masters program in Scottsdale, Arizona and assistant coach of the junior team.
Since 2005 I have been producing both short and feature length films. From the filming, editing to raising the money for projects I have overseen it all. I've had multiple awards for a few of my films. I am currently the head of the video department at a New York media company.
