In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am an Assistant Professor of Arabic at the Defense Language Institute. I am certified as a teacher by the DLI. I taught Arabic in Egypt and taught law in the same country. I am also a lawyer. All my legal studies were in Arabic. I taught Arabic to the DOD personnel in Honolulu Hawaii. My military students loved my methodology. To this day I am still volunteer to teach some of them via Skype.
I am also an Arabic writer. I write in a magazine published in LA in Arabic . It is called "Orthodox New".
