I offer more than ten years of successful tutoring of students from 4th thru 12th grades with many in math and others in reading and grammar. My education includes a BS in Mechanical Engineering and the MBA and have passed the CBEST to enhance tutoring credentials.
My approach is to evaluate the needs of the student, assessing strengths and weaknesses, and identifying abilities. From that, a personalized learning program is developed to meet the goals of the student.
As the student progresses, the tutor can guide progress while encouraging the student to learn and solve problems independently. This balanced approach, transitioning from directive to less directive methods, encourages the student to think on his own.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
