Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I have personally taken the time to read the bible for myself. I was raised Catholic, and I attend daily mass. I am very familiar with how to develop a deeper understanding of the scripture of both the Old and New Testament.

CBEST

As a licensed Clear Multiple Subject Teacher I have passed the CBEST. I took this before I became a Substitute Teacher. I am very familiar with the math that will be examined on the test.

Cooking

I host family holidays, BBQs, and birthdays with many home cook meals. I have raised a family, and I know how to cook for all ages. I know how to read receipes and prepare grocery lists. I understand the importance of nutrition to a family.

Elementary (K-6th)

I currently hold a Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential by the State of California. I have been in education since 1998. I am very capable of direct instruction of all K-6 subject matter. I have worked full time as a teacher for California Virtual Academies. I have also worked as a tutor for Professional Tutors of America and as a tutor for another tutoring company. I have tutored both math & language arts.

Elementary Math

I have worked for ACE Tutoring as a math tutor for elementary age students. I hold a Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from the State of California. I am patient, and I know how to work with students to bring the best out in them. I understand all elementary math, and know how important it is to build a strong foundation at a young age.

English

I have the ability to provide direct instruction in grammar, usage, and mechanics. I also can help a student increase their vocabulary and writing skills.

Fitness

I hold a current certification by AFAA, American Fitness Aerobic Association. I have over ten years of experience teaching aerobics and working in the health fitness industry. I am also CPR certified.

Microsoft Excel

I use MS Excel almost daily at work. I am very familiar how to manipulate columns, rows, cut, paste, create a formula, workbook, and several sheets. I have the ability to teach a student to use the basic functions of this program.

Prealgebra

I have taught pre-algebra for California Virtual Teaching Academies, Ceres Adult Night School, and Modesto Junior College. I work very well with young adults. I understand how important it is to learn this subject to move on to higher levels of math.

Public Speaking

I have taught school for over ten years, and I have taught aerobics for over ten years. I am very familiar with speaking in front of a group of students, adults, and parents. I can help draft speeches as well as provide feedback in presentations.

Reading

English is my first language. I am very familiar with the connection between fluency and comprehension. Finding the correct reading level for a student is the foremost objective to grasping the material to be read. I know how to teach sight reading, speed reading, and elementary reading.

Soccer

I have played soccer for over ten years, and I assisted in coaching two years. I do have the ability to show a player how to stop, pass, shoot, throw, dribble, and control the ball. I could help a player get ready for the big season, or offer to improve their fitness skills.

Swimming

I was a certified lifeguard for two summers. I also swam for Modesto City Swim Team, and Davis High Swim Team. I played water polo, and I am currently CPR certified.
