I currently work in a writing center at a private liberal arts university tutoring students on academic papers, resumes, personal statements, poetry etc. I enjoy hearing back from students about their successes after a tutoring session, especially concerning internships, grad programs etc.
I will be starting a doctoral program in Cultural Studies in the summer where I plan to research episodic narratives. I am currently working on a project concerning racial representations in "Breaking Bad." Studying television is relatively new for me, however, I have researched various American and international genres.
I truly enjoy working with students. I want to give back what my professors and mentors have shared with me as I entered academia. I have always had advanced abilities in reading and writing. I would have studied English, if not for discovering Film
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
