I have recently moved to the Mission Viejo area of Orange County from Scotland. I have 5 years of ESL teaching experience from my time in South Korea where I worked in 3 different academies in 2 different cities. I have had the pleasure of teaching students of all age groups and abilities, from kindergarten students who were just beginning to learn their A,B,C's to University students looking to perfect their conversational abilities as they prepared for years of study in America, Canada and the UK.
I have always enjoyed teaching and tutoring as each new student always provides a new challenge. I like to take the time to get to know the students I am teaching and try to cater to their style of learning as best I can. This can be difficult in a classroom setting where there are so many different personalities. However, one to one tutoring always allows the teacher and student to get to know one another better and allows each student to improve their abilities at a far faster rate than they are able to in a classroom.
My ESL experience from my 5 years as a teacher in Korea makes me an ideal tutor for any student who is struggling with English. I also have a 20 hour TEFL certificate which I completed before leaving for Korea.
I really hope to hear from as many prospective students as possible in the near future. I am a patient, encouraging and helpful teacher with plenty of experience in this field. I will work as hard as I can to ensure that all of my students improve and become more confident when communicating, writing and reading in English. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a native English speaker with a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences from Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland. I have worked at 4 different English academies during the past 6 years and taught English grammar, spelling, writing, reading and vocabulary to students throughout this time. I am fully open to customising tutoring to include all ages and ability levels and can provide materials for students with no additional costs.
