Bio

My name is Bonnie and I have been a Spanish tutor since 2002. I also earned my master's degree in Spanish from CSUF in May of 2012. My first experience tutoring was as a volunteer in the Learning Assistance Program at Saddleback College. I tutored there for about two years and since then I have tutored privately. My first experience tutoring was as a volunteer in the Learning Assistance Program at Saddleback College. I tutored there for about two years and since then I have tutored privately. I also earned my teaching credential in 2009. I have experience tutoring students in all areas (reading and literature, writing, conversation, and vocabulary development). With new students I typically start by assessing the areas in which they struggle most in order to provide specialized attention where it is needed most. I typically do this by both asking the student directly and then working on several assignments together. For homework assignments and writing activities, I encourage students to write about topics that interest them. This tends to be helpful, especially since for many students Spanish is a subject that is both boring and anxiety-producing. This allows them to relax and have a little fun with the language while at the same time improving their skill level. With time and practice I am confident that the students who choose me as a tutor will greatly improve their language skills in all areas. I look forward to working with you!

I have also tutored English as a Second Language for over ten years. I started tutoring ESL in 2004 at UCLA in the English Conversation Program. I ran small classes of about eight people and worked on improving conversation skills, grammar, vocabulary, and even slang. While I was earning my teaching credential, I also taught an ESL class at a local high school. It is always rewarding to watch students’ confidence grow throughout the semester as their English improves and this is why I love tutoring English as a Second Language! Please contact me if you want to improve your English.

Great individualized tutoring

My son felt that the hour he spent being tutored by Bonnie was very worthwhile and we are looking forward to his next session.

Carie, 8 lessons with Bonnie

Very Great Tutor

She prepared materials or textbook for me very well before the class. I can learn not only English skills, but also English culture too.

Mitsuru, 11 lessons with Bonnie

Excellent tutor!

My son has been struggling with his third year high school Spanish. After meeting with Bonnie twice, he said "she has taught me more in two weeks than I have learned in the previous two years of high school Spanish." She is professional and very easy to communicate with. We would highly recommend Bonnie and intend to continue working with her on a long term basis.

Julie, 13 lessons with Bonnie

Great Tutor!!

My son has been struggling with Freshman Spanish 1 all semester. With just a few sessions with Bonnie, he is motivated and more excited about Spanish than ever before. His confidence level to learn the language has increased so much, that he even seems excited to continue and learn more. Thank you Bonnie, you are awesome!
