University of California Riverside (Biology)
Dear Potential Student,
I am a senior in college, majoring in Biology and minoring in Philosophy. With those fields, I have had my fair share of classes and mentors to help me succeed. I believe that it is time to help you reach the next chapter. I had my first tutoring experience as a senior in high school four years ago. I was hired as a paid tutor, and I tutored quite an ample amount of students. But I came to enjoy the value that I as a tutor could bring to students when two years later, I was approached by a student I had tutored and he told me that he was able to graduate high school because I tutored him in math when no one else would. That is my core belief: As a tutor, I am here to believe in you and help you get to your next destination. I cannot promise that the journey would be easy, but I can assure you that I will walk it with you all the way.
I have always enjoyed sharing my knowledge and experiences with friends and helping whenever I can. Last year, I had the privilege to tutor an athlete and the satisfaction that I received from having him pass every single exam speaks volumes. At the moment, I prefer to tutor K-12 mathematics, including Geometry but with a concentration in Algebra I or II. I can also assist in Biology, and English comprehension.
Since I hold myself accountable for the time students spend with me, my tutoring is not strictly about homework help but about simplifying and explaining difficult concepts in the hopes that you could apply and utilize those concepts in your classwork. And to make sure that you have a very comfortable study environment, you get to decide where the tutoring would take place, your home, school library, or any of the other numerous public places.
I do have a 6-hour cancellation policy, but I also understand that life can bring some unexpected challenges, so I also offer make ups.
I Look forward to meeting you! Dear Potential Student,

Pearl jumped in right away to get an understanding of my son's learning style and was able to tutor him with the appropriate approach. She laid out expectations and stopped along the way to allow him hands on to showcase his understanding of the material. She's wonderful!
Pearl helped my son with Algebra 1, she took the time to learn his learning style and was able to help him understand the lesson, she also prepared practice materials so that she could be sure he was learning the lesson. I appreciate the help. She is a great tutor.
Pearl is an amazing tutor and she took the time to explain each step to my son. She genuinely cares about her students. I will continue to use Pearl, and can honestly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have tutored elementary math through a local organization during the last two years, and I was able to make strong impacts.
Also, through my affliction with this organization, I have supplementary resources to help my students succeed.
