Sara is a rising senior at Carnegie Mellon University, studying with Professor David Harding, and is currently pursuing her BFA in Viola Performance with a minor in Sonic Arts. In the past, Sara has attended the Castleman Quartet Program, Brevard Music Festival, the Eastern Music Festival and American Music Abroad. She has also performed orchestral music with the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic, New York Youth Symphony, the Academy Orchestra with the NJSO. She has performed for and worked with many notable musicians, including but not limited to Atar Arad, Tatjana Chamis, Matsumi Rostad, Charles Castleman, Michael Strauss, Alysson Dawkins, Csaba Erdelyi and Yehuda Hanani. Sara is also a big supporter of new music and has premiered pieces by many composers, in both electronic and traditional styles. Most recently, Sara performed the United States premiere of Canadian producer David Jaeger’s piece, Sarabande, and received a standing ovation with high praise. She has also premiered and composed electronic pieces with the Exploded Ensemble, the electronic new music ensemble at CMU.
Sara is most praised for her unique sense of musicality, phrasing the music to fit her voice. To quote David Jaeger, “Her musicality is just overwhelming, she gives [the music] a new lease on life through her interpretation”. In her free time, Sara enjoys spending time with her dog, going out for hikes and discovering new brunch recipes. While school is in session, she is very involved with her Orientation Program and participates on her Buggy team as a pusher. Sara is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota and has served as her chapter’s social and education chairs and on her Executive Board as Editor. She has also been initiated into her school's chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda in the Spring 2021.

Proofreading

The last person I helped to proofread their essay ended up winning this year's Marshall Scholarship in London. I have helped many other peers as well and have helped them to succeed. I have also successfully helped high school students and undergraduates write/edit essays to apply for their next level of schooling.

Music Theory,

Music Theory

I have thoroughly enjoyed my courses in music theory. However, entering college, I knew absolutely nothing about it and began with the very basic class. I have gone through slow teaching music theory and now fully understand and enjoy the topic. Let's get you to that level too! <3
Sight Singing,

Sight Singing

I have completed almost 4 years of conservatory training from Carnegie Mellon University's school of music. Half of my time here I went through solfege and sight singing training as well.
Violin

Violin

I have played viola for over 10 years, and on violin as well. My ability and technique have been honed by worldwide faculty, performing in masterclasses with some of the finest violinists and violists of our time. I have studied with famous musicians, such as (but not limited to): David Harding, Aatar Arad, Michael Strauss, Yehuda Hanani, Charles Castleman, Jodi Levitz, Alysson Dawkins, Julian Schwarz, Simon Porter, Orli Shaham, Chauncey Patterson, Brook Speltz, Derek Mosloff, Nadja-Salerno Sonnenberg, and Cynthia Phelps The list goes on and on, but my teaching experience for violin and viola is channeled from the hours and hours of world class musicians I have learned from. Other than teacher experience, I have also performed extensively around the country and world. I have performed also with incredibly fine orchestras including the New York Youth Orchestra, Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic, The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, The Brevard Symphony Orchestra and many more. I have helped to perform new works including United States and worldwide premieres of music. I have performed in concert halls such as Carnegie Hall in NY, NY and many more fine halls.
